Antenatal
This clinic is run by the midwives on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Child Health and Immunisation
These clinics are run on Wednesdays and Fridays, we will send immunisation appointments by post. The health visitors clinic is held in the community clinic at Balance Street Health Centre.
Contraception and Cervical Smears
We offer a full range of contraceptive services including coil fittings and implant fittings. These appointments are within the normal surgery times. Smear appointments are on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoon – if you are unable to attend at these times please speak to one of our receptionists.

Diabetes, Blood Pressure, Heart Disease and Asthma
Led by our nursing team, this clinic offers advice and general health check-ups to patients diagnosed with these conditions.
If you have been advised by the surgery to submit your blood pressure readings on a regular basis, please use our Blood Pressure Review form.
If you have been advised by the surgery to submit an annual review of your asthma symptoms, please use our Asthma Review form.
Travel Advice
We offer advice and vaccinations for travel. The cost of some travel vaccinations do have to be borne by the patient.
If you are travelling abroad please make sure you contact us in plenty of time to arrange any vaccinations that may be necessary. Please complete our Travel Risk Assessment form.
Minor Injuries
We offer a minor injuries service subject to appointment availability. Injuries will be assessed by a doctor or practice nurse and if appropriate, treated at the surgery. More complex injuries will be referred to the accident and emergency department of a local hospital.
Minor Surgery
Minor operations can be done in our treatment room. Please discuss this with your doctor who will then arrange for you to be given an appointment.
Vaccinations
Flu Vaccination Programme
Flu is a highly infectious illness that can spread rapidly from person to person. Because it is a virus, antibiotics cannot treat it and it can lead to complications in vulnerable individuals. Therefore, it is very important to protect yourself against flu by simply having the vaccination.
You will soon be asked to ring reception to book your appointment if you have any of the following, or you usually have the vaccination.
- All patients over 65
- Any patients with chronic respiratory disease, heart disease, kidney or liver disease.
- Chronic neurological disease
- Diabetes type 1 and type 2
- Immunosuppressed
- Pregnant Women
- Persons in long stay care homes or other long stay care facilities
- Carers
- Health and Social Care Workers
This is not an exhaustive list – patients may receive vaccination at their GP’s discretion.

There may also be the opportunity for you to have the Shingles Vaccination if eligible.
Shingles Vaccination Programme
The purpose of the Shingles vaccination programme is to reduce the incidence and severity of shingles disease in older people. Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox.
Shingles is a common disease that can cause long-lasting, severe pain. It can cause permanent disability, and it occurs more frequently in those over 70 years old, who are also more likely to have worse symptoms.
You only have to have the shingles vaccination once.
